Sunday is my favourite #6

The most interesting day of the week for me is always Sunday. That is my first day-off from my normal day-job, which means the first proper working day as an illustrator and surface pattern designer. So if I am able to, I like to start it early, do a bit of work and then follow the rest of my plans – which is usually more work or meeting my Sister.

I thought I’d make a series about how my Sundays look like, and the reasons for that:

* I have a really bad memory, so I’d like to have sg like a diary, but I cannot do that on paper, because I’d love to insert photos, but my printer is broken..
* Also I’d like to share useful things with you, like how to make yourself happy with a tiny thing (e.g. the joy of making a cup of coffee), places to visit (mostly in London, because I live here), what books or blogs to read etc.

Hey Everyone,

Today’s post will be a bit different, because I spent a few days in Copenhagen, so on Sunday I actually spent my day with traveling and unpacking and catching up with my usual everyday stuff, so I did have a productive day, but it wasn’t that interesting, so I thought I’d rather share a few pictures with you about my trip πŸ™‚
The basic story behind this mini holiday: this was our first sister-trip with Fanni, my Sister. We were never able to afford this in the past, but finally we are grown-ups to do this now πŸ™‚ We didn’t even spend a lot on this, we found cheap flight tickets (it was already a bit chilly this time of the year in Copenhagen, but you know, cheap tickets for a little colder weather=totally worth it πŸ™‚ ), we found a room on airbnb, not a whole flat, but a lovely room in a lovely girl’s home (we just spent a few hours to sleep there anyway πŸ™‚ ), and we didn’t spend much on food, except coffee and pastries.. :))

IMG_9002great cafe, lovely staff, wonderful coffee, amazing cinnamon roll – everything just spot on.. we tried a few cafes, but this was our top favourite, it’s called
The Coffee Collective

DSC_0104also we love walking and exploring things that way, which is always free πŸ™‚ (maybe just a bit rainy occasionally πŸ™‚ )

DSC_0131the botanical garden is amazing too… definitely a must see – if you love parks and plants of course

IMG_9113on Saturday it was raining like crazy, and unfortunately our shoes didn’t manage it too well, so instead of walking and seeing more undiscovered streets and beautiful houses, we visited Design Museum Danmark, and look at this beautiful embroidery…!

IMG_9144also amazing chairs…! (and my Sister πŸ™‚ )

best two houses ever πŸ™‚

That’s it for today, I hope you’ve enjoyed this post πŸ™‚ If you are planning to visit Copenhagen, don’t hesitate to ask, not like I’m an expert, but maybe I can answer some questions.
Have a lovely week!

The most interesting, I said? Well, not this one unfortunately.. probably most of us (women in this case) know what period pain is. But I think the main problem with it is not just the unbearable pain itself, but that men cannot understand. (this might sound a bit feminist, but if you can get to the end, you’ll see it’s not even that. I’d just like everyone to be equally respected) And I can’t even complain, because my Love knows he has no idea how bad it could be, but he can imagine based on how I look like. But the men who do not appreciate their wives, the ones who think women worth less… just makes me fuming. Just because we are less strong physically, we are not able to lift up as much as men do (well, in general, you know what I mean), it doesn’t mean we are less strong people. Between the age of 15-60 we have to deal with monthly period pain, giving birth, menopause. And they all come with mood swings, spots, cravings etc. every single month. And they dare to say tampax and sanitary pad is a luxury product! Also that a person Β in general suffers from serious pain in twentysomething hours in a lifetime…! Must be all men coming up with these ideas..

I’m sorry about this post, this blog is about fun stuff, tips, illustration, but also about me, and this is me too. And do not get me wrong, I’m not saying, women are more than men either. I just hate when they think they are more than us. (however they all come from mothers, right..?)
No, there are as many good, worthy or useless, rude women as men. How much we worth does not depend on our gender, but how good persons we are.

Anyway! Let’s get back to business, shall we? πŸ™‚ So there was some fun stuff today too, don’t worry, I am quite a complainer (like all the Hungarians, it’s in our blood πŸ™‚ ), but I am trying to develop πŸ™‚ So even though I’m in pain, and I had to cancel the original plans (going to Columbia Road Flowers Market), I met my Sister for a coffee (where I didn’t have to move much πŸ™‚ ).

Our favourite place to go to Sunday mornings, when we don’t have any other plans is one of the Nordic Bakeries. It’s quiet early in the morning, they have lovely pastries, great coffee, and we need nothing more for our few hours chat with my Sister πŸ™‚

I also worked on some of my ideas, I’ll show you below, but not much, because I had to pack for travelling home. So next Sunday, post is coming from Hungary, probably with not much drawing and painting, but more cakes and dogs πŸ™‚

wreath, text will be placed inside later

and a thank you card for someone who helped me getting my first proper, big commission

That’s it for today, I hope you’ve had a lovely Sunday, and if you liked my post, check my blog in a week as well! And if my plans are going well, soon there will be another series with some tutorials and tips. We’ll see.

* Also I’d like to share useful things with you, like how to make yourself happy with a tiny thing (e.g. the joy of making a cup of coffee), places to visit (mostly in London, because I live here), what books or blogs to read etc.

This Sunday, I woke up at 4:40, had a cup of coffee and a massive mug of water too (and a slice of chocolate.. πŸ™‚ ), and jumped straight into work. First I’ve read a couple of articles on Society6 and discovered there are backpacks available now yaaay πŸ™‚ Here is my very first one.

viktoria.rodek.society6.rose.indigo.backpack

And then started to write drafts for this blog. As it started to get lighter and my Boyfriend got up and left to work, I didn’t have to be quiet any more, so I put on sg to listen to (which is usually Harry Potter or the Chronicles of Narnia.. don’t judge, I love these, and because I know them so well now, it’s easy to not pay attention, so to focus on what I do, but still having sg in the background πŸ™‚ ).
So yes, it got lighter, and I started working on a project what I need daylight for, not blogging πŸ™‚ I have some Christmas products for my Etsy shop in mind, I started painting stickers the other day, then went to my local printer, so now it’s time to develop the ideas.

Around noon my Sister came over, we had a couple of things on our to-do-list, but we had more fun – went to one of the farmer’s markets in London. A little bit about why I love farmer’s markets:

* the main reason is that if we buy things there, we are able to avoid using tons of packaging. When I come home from the normal weekly shopping, I take out all the fruit and vegetable of the bags, and I have a huge pile of rubbish, mainly plastic. The grapes are in even two, a box and a bag as well..! I know otherwise they would get squashed, but still it annoys me, so I had to find a solution.

* on the other hand usually they are a bit more expensive – but not always, not everything, not everywhere, and most of them are far more delicious. And it makes my soul happy to know I can reuse and reuse the paperbags and my fabricbags until they get damaged.

* dogs. I don’t think I have to explain for dog-lovers,Β just looking at them is pure happiness, isn’t it? πŸ™‚ and for non-dog-lovers: there are farmer’s markets where there aren’t many dogs, you just have to find the right one!

* cup of coffee. There is always a little artisan coffee stand, where you get smaller but wonderfully tasting coffee πŸ™‚

Then we worked on our project together: creating embroideries based on my patterns. It’ a huge project but we are very enthusiastic and very patient πŸ™‚

I also talked to my Mum and Dad on the phone, sent some emails, did a little bit of housework, had a lovely dinner (just fresh veggies and fruits from the market) and watched someΒ Disney’s Adventures of the Gummi Bears πŸ™‚ That was it for today, I hope you’ve had a lovely Sunday too, do let me know if you’ve done sg fun or you have any suggestions, tips for the others and me!
